Ellen Chisa is the CEO and Cofounder of a startup that makes it 100x faster to write software by designing a language and tools for engineers to quickly build microservice based applications.
Chisa invests in other startups via parcelb.vc and is an advisor at Flybridge Capital. She has taught others as an Instructor at the Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering, where she taught Human Factors in Interface Design and a seminar on Product Management for engineers and published a book of essays on Product Management in the summer of 2017.
Chisa has spent her career in startups and software. Prior to this startup, Chisa was an Entrepreneur in Residence at Blade, a consumer tech incubator in Boston. Her work at Blade turned into Lola, a mobile app that provides on-demand, personal travel service for hotels and flights, where she served as VP of Product. Chisa joined Blade after working as a Product Manager at Kickstarter in New York City. While at Kickstarter, Chisa helped develop the company’s Discovery features, as well as leading a major redesign of the start page, providing resources to that encouraged creators to start new projects. Chisa started her career with Microsoft, working as program manager for the Office Mobile. Her work on Office Mobile, particularly for Symbian, focused on what a mobile-first set of office worker tools would mean.
Chisa has also experimented with a variety of ways to start new companies. She took a leave of absence during her undergraduate work to co-found Alight Learning, a collaborative learning software platform for middle schools. Chisa led the product through alpha version, releasing it to three private schools in the Greater Boston area. She also participated in Startup Lockdown, a framework for starting companies while as well as several startup weekends. She has spoken on creating technology and startups at SXSW and at the National Academy of Engineering.
Chisa is a graduate of the Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering with a B.S. in Electrical & Computer Engineering, and is currently on sabbatical from Harvard Business School, after completing her first year.
